As chief actuary and chief risk officer for Sun Life U.S., Sarah Osborne maintains the integrity of actuarial and risk management functions across all areas of the U.S. business., coordinating with the global risk and actuarial teams. Sarah advises the business on strategy, major initiatives, including relevant mergers and acquisitions and actuarial and risk work, as well as product pricing.

With more than 23 years in the industry, Sarah has extensive expertise in actuarial, risk and finance, in both group benefits and health insurance. Previously, Sarah was vice president of finance for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City, and prior to that, was chief actuary and analytics officer for the Government Employees Health Association. She also served as vice president, director of analytics and actuarial services for Lockton Companies, and spent 10 years at Assurant Employee Benefits, acquired by Sun Life U.S. in 2016.

Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science and mathematics from Central Missouri State University. She is a recipient of the NextGen Leader and Women Who Mean Business awards from the Kansas City Business Journal and has received the Society of Actuaries Outstanding Volunteer award. Sarah is a board member of the Lewer Life Insurance Company, Phoenix Family and the Central Missouri State University Alumni Foundation. She is also a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a Fellow of both the Society of Actuaries and Conference of Consulting Actuaries.
