Senior Vice President, Head of In-Force Management Sun Life U.S.

As head of In-Force Management (IFM), Neil Haynes oversees Sun Life’s closed book of over 200,000 life insurance and annuities policies, responsible for strategy, operations, investment management and reinsurance. Neil first came to Sun Life in its corporate office in Toronto through its acquisition of Clarica Life Insurance Company in 2002, bringing decades of experience in insurance and financial management.

Neil has held numerous positions at Sun Life in finance, actuarial, investments and strategy. Previously, he was chief financial officer, Sun Life U.S., leading financial reporting, capital, profitability management, and related functions for the U.S. business. Neil has held roles as senior vice president of Finance in Sun Life’s corporate office, and senior vice president and chief financial officer for Sun Life Canada. He also worked in leadership and strategic initiatives in Sun Life’s UK and Asia operations.

A dedicated advocate for community programs, Neil sits on the board of directors of the YMCA of Greater Boston and represents Sun Life across its many philanthropic programs with the Y and the Boston Celtics, including the youth fitness program, Sun Life Fit to Win, and annual fundraising campaign, #SunLifeDunk4Diabetes.

Neil is a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and of the Society of Actuaries. He holds a Bachelor of Mathematics degree from the University of Waterloo.
