David Healy oversees Sun Life’s U.S. Group Benefits business, which includes leading life, disability, absence management, supplemental health, dental and vision benefits. Under David’s leadership, the Group business has developed services and programs that broaden access to care and benefits, helping people achieve better health outcomes and close coverage gaps. David has a passion for digital innovation and has led the modernization of Group Benefits capabilities through advancements in technology and digital services, including digital benefits administration, partner connectivity, Sun Life Onboard, Benefits Explorer, and other distribution, employer, and member solutions.
David has also grown clinical capabilities in disability and supplemental health, including creation of the Claims Innovation Lab, which studies specific diseases and conditions to find opportunities for clinical intervention that can help people get back to productive work and life.
David has led Group Benefits since 2017. In 2018 he oversaw the acquisition of Maxwell Health, adding digital talent and expertise to the organization. He also led the integration of Assurant Employee Benefits, which Sun Life acquired in 2015.
Previously, David headed the U.S. Operations and Technology teams for seven years, consolidating the function across all Sun Life U.S. business groups. Prior to joining Sun Life, David held roles at Keyport Life Insurance Company and Manulife Financial.
David received a Bachelor of Science in marketing from Providence College and holds an MBA, high honors, from Boston University. He is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Boston Children’s Museum.
Group insurance policies are underwritten by Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada (Wellesley Hills, MA) in all states, except New York. In New York group insurance policies are issued by Sun Life and Health Insurance Company (U.S.) (Lansing, MI).
