Helping people navigate what matters most

New global research reveals a gap between what people want to protect and how prepared they feel for the future.

Life doesn't fit neatly into categories.

Health decisions can affect finances. Financial pressures can impact wellbeing. Planning for retirement, caring for loved ones and preparing for the unexpected often require people to think about many parts of their lives at once.

New global research from Sunlife suggests many people are experiencing this reality today. More than half of respondents said managing their finances (52%) and health (51%) is more complicated today than it was five years ago.

The research also found a gap between what people value and how prepared they feel. Around the world, people have a clear sense of what matters most to them, but many need greater confidence, clarity and support to turn those priorities into action.

People are looking for more connected support

One of the clearest findings from the research is that people increasingly see their health, finances and protection needs as connected.

Across the markets surveyed, 61% said their health can affect their financial situation, while 59% said their finances can affect their health. Reflecting that connection, 65% said they want support that considers these parts of their lives together rather than separately.

The findings suggest people are looking for support that reflects the reality of their lives. Whether they're planning for retirement, supporting family members, managing their health or navigating a major life change, they want trusted guidance to help them understand their options and move forward with confidence.

That confidence matters. Across the markets surveyed, 75% said access to trustworthy financial planning advice would help them feel more confident about the future.
