Jessica Tan recognized as a Report on Business Best Executive
The honour reflects how Sun Life teams are combining Purpose-led leadership and practical innovation to support Canadians’ health and financial security.
Jessica Tan, EVP and President, Sun Life Canada, has been named a 2026 Report on Business Best Executive. This award recognizes leaders who deliver meaningful impact through both performance and purpose.
Jessica joined Sun Life in 2024 to lead our Canadian business, bringing a global perspective shaped by more than 20 years in financial services across North America and Asia, along with deep technical expertise as a trained engineer. At Sun Life, her focus has stayed consistent: help Canadians feel more secure about their financial futures, especially in uncertain times, and do it in a way that keeps Clients at the centre.
That clarity is showing up in both how we serve and how we grow. Sun Life Canada has expanded choice for Clients with alternative segregated funds and the company’s first ETF series, while reinforcing protection as a fundamental need. In 2025, underlying net income for Sun Life Canada was up 10 per cent and total sales grew 23 per cent across wealth and insurance product lines.
Jessica also brings a practical view of innovation. For her, digital, data, and AI are not the headline. They are the tools that should simplify complexity and improve the moments that matter most. This work has helped cut insurance application processing times by more than 40 per cent, while enabling digital and data-driven tools that accelerate decisions, simplify advisor workflows, and expand access to coverage and support.
Just as importantly, impact is not limited to Clients. She is committed to building a stronger, more resilient Canada by bridging the gap to underserved communities. Under Jessica’s leadership, Sun Life launched an initiative with Families Canada, United Way Greater Toronto, and Centraide of Greater Montreal to offer more than 10,000 program participants no-cost access to virtual healthcare through Dialogue.
While the award recognizes an executive, Jessica is quick to point to the people behind the progress.
“Every day, we have the privilege of helping Canadians with the things that matter most in their lives, supporting their health, their finances and their futures,” she said. “This recognition is a testament to the collective impact of dedicated teams who are passionate about service and committed to making a real difference for people and communities across Canada.”
For Sun Life, the story behind this recognition is about what happens when you bring together teams who lead with purpose, use technology thoughtfully, and stay focused on outcomes Canadians can feel in their lives.
