Sunlife completes third sustainability bond offering
Sunlife is advancing the sustainable investing goals of the Sunlife general account through sustainability bonds.
In May 2024, Sunlife successfully completed the public offering in Canada of a $750 million 12-year Sustainability bond.
Sunlife became the first life insurance company to issue a sustainability bond in 2019. This inaugural bond won Corporate Sustainability Bond of the Year Award from Environmental Finance in 2020. In 2023, we advanced our support for green and social assets by issuing our second sustainability bond.
The 2024 offering will be used to finance green and social assets within the Sunlife's general account that meet the eligibility criteria set out under our 2024 Sustainability Bond Framework.
By issuing Sustainability Bonds, we are demonstrating our commitment to embed sustainability into our business while contributing positively to society and supporting the transition to a low-carbon economy.
