How our people bring our Purpose to life

October 07, 2026

Every day, Sun Life employees help Clients navigate life with greater confidence. Whether supporting them when it matters most, developing innovative solutions or strengthening communities, our people bring our Purpose to life through the work they do.

That connection between our people, our Purpose and the impact we make every day is reflected in Sun Life’s ranking among the top three companies on TIME’s list of Canada’s Best Companies 2026. This recognition celebrates a workplace where people are empowered to do meaningful work, and make a difference for Clients, communities and one another.

“This recognition belongs to our people,” says Jessica Tan, EVP and President, Sun Life Canada. “The care, expertise and commitment they bring every day strengthen our culture and help us deliver for Clients, communities, and each other. I’m incredibly proud of what our teams continue to achieve together.”

For many employees, the connection between their work and its impact is what sets Sun Life apart.

“We're doing such awesome, incredible, meaningful work every single day that directly links to our Purpose, for example, our Bridges Initiative that focuses on addressing the needs of underserved groups," says Allison Long, Assistant Vice-President, Social Impact Strategy & Performance. "Knowing the impact we have on people makes the work incredibly rewarding."

That sense of purpose is reflected in employee feedback. In Canada, 86% of employees say they find purpose in their day-to-day work, while 83% say Sun Life's Purpose aligns with their personal beliefs.

At Sun Life, employees are encouraged to build new skills, embrace new technologies and explore new opportunities throughout their careers. By investing in future-ready capabilities, Sun Life is helping people thrive while continuing to innovate and deliver for Clients.

"We want our people to thrive not only today, but in the future," says Helena Pagano, Executive Vice-President and Chief People and Culture Officer. "Creating opportunities to develop new skills, take on new challenges and continue growing is one of the most important investments we can make."

For Alex Fruci, Assistant Vice-President, Global Digital Marketing & Marketing Technology, that includes exploring how technology can help teams spend less time on routine tasks and more time collaborating, innovating and strengthening Client experiences.

“AI can take on more of the routine, everyday tasks,” says Alex Fruci. "Giving us more time to focus on strategic, high-value work where we can make the biggest impact.”

While recognitions like this are worth celebrating, what makes them meaningful is what they reflect: a culture built by people who bring our Purpose to life every day.
