Sun Life Asia Service Centres are committed to develop and sustain highly skilled and competent workforce by supporting learning and development through formal, informal, and social channels.

The organisation's Education Assistance Standard (EAS) describes how the Company supports eligible employees in continuing their formal, accredited education and professional development for both short term and long-term course/certifications/degrees. Sun Life is associated with Life Insurance Marketing and Research Association (LIMRA) which is leading global provider of learning certification on financial and insurance domain. Sun Life have been recognized with Life Office Management Association (LOMA) excellence award 6 times in a row for promoting the insurance certification in Sun Life.

In addition to this, Sun Life has a dedicated Learning Management System (LMS), Cornerstone - myLearning Navigator which support the self-directed digital learning

In India in 2019, a total of 450 employees have been developed on digital technologies including AWS, full-stack for developers and tester, R. Python, RPA with UiPath, Tableau, and Salesforce 423 employees have participated in Domain and functional program which have been facilitated by external facilitators. 37 employees enrolled in MBA and EMBA programs this year which is being done in partnership with IMT Ghaziabad.

Upskilling and reskilling of workforces

Upskilling and reskilling of workforces is imperative to deliver on our strategy (Digital Enterprise). Hence, for ASC, investment in developing a learning culture, underpinned by a learning infrastructure that encourages and incentivized learning will be the key differentiator. While we continue our focus on building capabilities aligned to our strategy, future ready skills and leadership depth, we want to start our journey towards building significant capabilities in Digital, Data & analytics.

Our three-pronged approach towards creating growth and learning opportunities or our people is:

  • Definite focus on building SME capabilities in core technology & Domain areas where we choose to operate, including Cloud capabilities and Agile.
  • We are investing in a wider socialization of Digital Concepts, design thinking and Agile way of working to increase overall digital acumen of the organization
  • Behavioral and Skills development for employees who will transition to Agile teams from traditional ways of working.
