Retro Disability Benefits
SLPC 25188 11/15 (exp. 11/17)
Retro Disability Benefits – an innovative product that gives financial help to employees who suffer a serious disability.
How does it work?
Typical LTD plans have an Elimination Period during which LTD benefits are not paid. Seriously disabled employees who were continuously hospitalized for 14 days or more at the onset of the disability and who have completed the Elimination Period and have been approved for LTD benefits, are eligible for a Retro Disability Benefit – a retroactive, lump-sum payment equivalent to a benefit paid for the duration of the Elimination Period.
The claimant receives the benefit as a lump sum payment and monthly LTD benefits begin. The Retro Disability Benefit is not offset for earnings, sick pay, or other insurance benefits.
The group insurance policies described in this advertisement provide disability income insurance only. They do NOT provide basic hospital, basic medical, or major medical insurance as defined by the New York State Department of Financial Services.
