Gregory Lawrence, Vice President, Financial Affairs, Sun Life International

Mr. Lawrence has been with Sun Life for over 25 years.  He has been a member of the Sun Life International leadership team since 2018.  Over the course of his career, he has held roles of increasing responsibility in a wide range of functions across multiple business lines and geographies.  An actuary by training, he places a particular emphasis on driving the success of Sun Life’s business by providing insights through advanced actuarial, financial and risk management techniques. 

In his role as Vice-President, Financial Affairs, Mr. Lawrence is responsible for all facets of financial management for Sun Life International’s High Net Worth business, including actuarial, finance, risk management, capital management, reinsurance, and product development.  He also provides management oversight and direction for Sun Life International’s in-force Wealth business. 

Prior to joining Sun Life International, Mr. Lawrence spent 12 years in various roles within Sun Life U.S., supporting both Individual and Group lines of business. He gained significant experience in executing on large scale initiatives to manage the company’s capital and support Sun Life U.S.’s growth strategy. Prior to that, he held several actuarial roles in Sun Life’s Corporate Actuarial organization, as well as in Individual and Group businesses with Sun Life Canada. 

Mr. Lawrence holds a Bachelor of Mathematics Degree from the University of Waterloo, Canada. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
