Flexible dental plans with brighter choices

Next to group medical coverage, dental insurance continues to be the most popular benefit for employees and their families. Sun Life offers a variety of Dental plans that will brighten any employee benefits package, helping businesses attract and retain talented people while contributing to their oral health and overall well-being.

How does it work?

Because we offer a wide variety of Group Dental options to choose from, employers can customize the best plan for their companies. And it’s all backed by service that’s helpful, prompt, and personal.

Plan options:

Participating Provider Organization (PPO) plans
  • Active plan – great for groups with employees and dependents who routinely use their dental benefits
  • Passive plan – great for groups with employees who want to continue to see their current providers, regardless of network
  • Maximum Allowable Charge (MAC) plan – great for groups that need a cost-effective solution, with out-of-network costs reimbursed based on a fee schedule
Dual Select plan
(for companies with 20+ employees)
Choice of two plans – a basic plan, and an enhanced plan with additional coverage or riders
Voluntary plans All our Dental plan designs can be offered on a voluntary basis (employees pay all or part of the cost), with enrollment support from Sun Life, including plain language materials and personalized enrollment kits.
Administrative Services Only For companies that self-fund their dental plans, Sun Life can adjudicate and administer employee claims (available to groups with 100+ employees).1

What's covered?

Depending on the plan design, coverage can range from routine dental cleanings to major procedures. Customizable plan features, such as deductibles, coinsurance levels, plan maximums, and benefit waiting periods, help employers control costs. Employers looking for superior coverage can select optional features, including Built-In Routine Care, and an Annual Maximum Rollover provision, as well as coverage for implants and Orthodontia for children and adults.
