Julie O’Neill is Vice President & Chief Risk Officer for Sun Life U.S., providing risk advice and oversight within the Enterprise Risk Management framework. Julie also supports senior management with critical analysis and constructive challenge to ensure decisions are made with appropriate risk adjustment.
Previously, Julie was Vice President & Chief Compliance Officer, overseeing regulatory and business compliance issues, and guiding Sun Life through acquisitions, regulatory investigations, and class action litigation. She joined Sun Life in 2004 as Assistant Vice President, U.S. Finance, and held roles as Vice President & Chief Auditor for both the U.S. and Canada business groups. Julie has held various senior roles in the financial services industry, and holds a CPA designation from the state of Massachusetts.
Julie received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and a master’s in banking from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at the University of Delaware.
Group insurance policies are underwritten by Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada (Wellesley Hills, MA) in all states, except New York. In New York group insurance policies are issued by Sun Life and Health Insurance Company (U.S.) (Lansing, MI).
