How to work with us digitally

There are many ways to work with Sun Life Dental, however connecting digitally is more important than ever.

We offer Providers online access to plan information for Sun Life members through our online portal. Registration and use is simple and can be accessed 24/7.

Sun Life will pay in-network dentists $10 per member per visit for Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) for claims paid by Sun Life for covered services provided to Sun Life members with dates of service between October 1 and December 31, 2020. Simply submit D1999 for PPE with a claim for covered services no later than January 31, 2021. PPE payments will be available for fully insured Sun Life PPO dental plans only. PPE payment is subject to regulatory review, may vary by state and may not be available in all states. Exclusions and limitations may apply.

Look up patient benefit and plan information. If you are a new user, simply select Create an account to register.

Tip! Your patients with Sun Life Dental can also register their account in the portal to access plan and benefit information, and to see their explanation of benefits.

Answers to top questions

Sun Life has relaxed frequency restrictions in plans so that members can get their plan's second prophy/regular cleaning in 2020, even when not six (6) months apart. Treatments must be at least five (5) months apart.

If your patients with Sun Life Dental coverage express concern about their dental coverage, let them know we have taken steps to help

Sun Life has lengthened payment grace periods, extended continuation for all benefit plans, including dental, and modified our rehire provisions to help those impacted by temporary layoff or furlough keep their coverage.  Individuals may also be eligible to COBRA their dental benefits.

Are you providing services through teledentistry today? Our current environment has necessitated that more evaluative services temporarily be delivered in this manner. If so, it is important to know that Sun Life accepts teledentistry claims.  

Please continue to submit claims as you normally do. Sun Life allows the benefit for D0140 when performed with a D9995 (Synchronous Teledentistry). These evaluations are subject to the same policy provisions, copayments and frequencies as an office visit.
