Sun Life Financial Expands Marketing Group; Names Lisa Whittaker Assistant Vice President for Investment Product Marketing

WELLESLEY, Mass. (July 23, 2009) - The U.S. division of Sun Life Financial Inc. (NYSE: SLF; TSX: SLF) today announced Lisa Whittaker has been named Assistant Vice President of U.S. Investment Product Marketing. Whittaker will develop and execute marketing plans to illustrate the strength of Sun Life's internal investments products and team to wholesalers, advisors and the distribution channel, including plans for related internal communication, web strategies, needed research and customer communication.

Whittaker previously worked at Fidelity Investments in Smithfield, R.I., where she was Senior Vice President for the High Net Worth and Mass Affluent Segments, respectively, in charge of the segment marketing and customer experience. She also served as Marketing Director for Citizens Bank and SunTrust Bank and has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. Whitaker received her MBA from Boston College, is a Chartered Financial Analyst and holds NASD Series 7 and 24 registrations.
