Sun Life Commits to Kansas City with Long-term Lease

WELLESLEY, Mass. – (July 28, 2017) – Sun Life Financial U.S. has renewed its lease with Assurant, Inc. at 2323 Grand Boulevard in Kansas City, maintaining Sun Life’s presence there after completing its acquisition of Assurant’s employee benefits (AEB) business last year.

Sun Life and AEB’s integration efforts over the past several months have included work to optimize the Kansas City office space, with a larger training facility and new webcasting, recording, and video production equipment.

“We have been focused on growing our presence in Kansas City,” said Dan Fishbein, M.D., president of Sun Life Financial U.S. “It is a thriving business hub, and we are extremely pleased to extend our commitment to the city and this facility.”

Since the acquisition, Sun Life has shown strong commitment to the Kansas City community, including sponsoring events for the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired and the American Diabetes Association’s Tour de Cure bike race. Additionally, Sun Life recently signed a partnership with the Kansas City Royals through 2020, which includes the season-long diabetes fundraiser ”Strike Out Diabetes,” and the annual YMCA youth fitness P.L.A.Y. clinic and Home Run to Health program.

Sun Life also holds an extensive real estate portfolio in the Kansas City area, including office buildings, industrial buildings and undeveloped land.

Sun Life Financial completed the AEB acquisition on March 1, 2016.
