Sun Life Global Investments announces changes to Sun Life Multi-Strategy Target Return Fund

TORONTO, March 13, 2019 /CNW/ - Sun Life Global Investments (Canada) Inc. ("Sun Life Global Investments") today announced Sun Life Multi-Strategy Target Return Fund will become Sun Life Opportunistic Fixed Income Fund, subject to unitholder approval.

Sun Life Multi-Strategy Target Return Fund is seeking to change its investment objective and be renamed Sun Life Opportunistic Fixed Income Fund. The proposed new investment objective of the fund is to seek long-term capital appreciation and income by investing primarily in a diversified portfolio of global fixed income securities. The unitholder vote on the proposed name and investment objective change will take place on or about May 17, 2019.

If approved by unitholders of Sun Life Multi-Strategy Target Return Fund, the investment objective change will take effect as of 4:01 p.m. ET on or about May 24, 2019. If unitholders do not approve the proposed investment objective change, the fund will be closed to new purchases on May 17, 2019, and terminated as of June 17, 2019. All costs and expenses associated with the unitholder vote will be borne by Sun Life Global Investments.

In connection with the proposed change to the investment objective, the fund's sub-advisor will change from Aviva Investors Canada Inc. ("Aviva") to Wellington Management Canada ULC ("Wellington Management"). Aviva will continue to act as sub-advisor until May 24, 2019. Assuming the investment objective change is approved by unitholders, Wellington Management will be appointed sub-advisor of Sun Life Opportunistic Fixed Income Fund with the new investment strategy in place effective 4:01 p.m. ET on May 24, 2019.

In advance of the unitholder meeting that will be held to address the proposed change to the investment objective described above, the full details of each change will be set out in a management information circular that will be made available to unitholders and will be available on the System for Electronic Document Analysis and Retrieval at www.sedar.com.
