Sun Life Financial Partners with ComPsych to Offer ADA Compliance Solution with Its Absence Management Services

SLPC 26369 04/15 (Exp. 04/20)

Wellesley, MA (February 9, 2015) – To help protect employers against the growing complexity of leave laws and regulations, the U.S. business group of Sun Life Financial, through its partnership with ComPsych Corporation, is adding ADA administrative services to its FMLA Solutions. The enhanced absence management administrative services now will help employers comply with the regulatory requirements of both the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Sun Life is offering the newly combined Absence Management Services in partnership with ComPsych’s FMLASource®. ComPsych Corporation is the worldwide leader of fully integrated employee assistance programs (EAP), behavioral health, wellness, work-life, HR, FMLA, and absence management services.

“Regulatory expertise is a must for administering employee leaves in today’s complex and dynamic environment, and absence management programs need an ADA component to be truly compliant,” said Alex Dumont, Assistant Vice President, Product Development, for Sun Life. “In partnership with ComPsych, we’ve seamlessly integrated ADA administration with FMLA, providing a comprehensive absence management service.”

Sun Life and ComPsych are offering two ADA compliance solutions as part of Absence Management Services: ADA Essential (comprised of administrative services) and ADA Complete (comprised of administration and coaching services).

ADA Essential includes:

  • Assistance in reviewing an employer’s current ADA policy
  • ADA review of all applicable leaves
  • Collection and review of medical information for ADA leave requests
  • Preparation and distribution of approval notices to employees
  • Regular reporting on ADA leave usage
  • Training for HR staff

ADA Complete provides all of the above services, plus unlimited consultation, coaching, and individual case support, including legal compliance expertise. By offering ADA Complete, Sun Life will be the first employee benefits carrier to offer a solution combining compliance focus and specialized expertise to ensure that employers are making informed decisions.

“Together, Sun Life and ComPsych are providing an outstanding full-service absence management service,” added Tracy Reinhold, Sun Life’s Director of National Accounts. “With over 30 years of experience as a leading employee benefits carrier, Sun Life brings in-depth disability claims expertise and rehabilitation options, while ComPsych leverages two decades of expertise to provide comprehensive leave management services.”

“We’re excited to enhance our FMLA offering to Sun Life’s clients with the addition of ADA compliance services,” said Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz, Founder, Chairman, and CEO of ComPsych Corporation. “This comprehensive program now offers a full solution for organizations looking to comply with the intricate and burdensome FMLA and ADA regulations.”

Sun Life is offering its Absence Management Services in all states for employers with 200 or more lives.1
