Sun Life Financial’s U.S. Website Wins ClearMark Award for Plain Language

Employee benefits carrier receives national award for consumer communication

WELLESLEY, Mass. (May 2, 2014) – The U.S. business group of Sun Life Financial (NYSE:SLF, TSX:SLF) has received a 2014 ClearMark Award, which recognizes excellence in plain language communications, for a redesign of the consumer pages of its public website. Based on extensive research of consumer needs, interests, and online behavior, the winning pages provide employees a clear, comprehensive overview of Sun Life’s employee benefits offerings.

Annually recognizing the nation’s best plain language documents and websites, the ClearMark Awards are judged by a panel of international experts appointed by the Center for Plain Language (Washington, DC). Judges praised Sun Life for the website’s ease of use and comprehensive understanding of consumer needs and goals.

Offering consumers more information than what their employers provide at enrollment, the award-winning web content allows workers to educate themselves in greater detail about Sun Life employee benefits, including life insurance, accidental death and disbursement, short- and long-term disability, critical illness, dental, and accident insurance.

Sun Life also won Clearmark Awards in 2012 for its Voluntary Benefits Broker Toolkit, and in 2011 for its Personalized Group Enrollment Kit, an educational booklet on Sun Life’s voluntary employee benefits.
