Priscilla Sims Brown
Senior Vice President, Head of Marketing and Strategy
Priscilla Sims Brown is Senior Vice President, Head of Marketing and Strategy, Sun Life Financial U.S. She was named to this role in January, 2009. Known for marshaling direct and matrixed resources to fully integrate and lift brands, Ms. Brown has direct responsibility for Strategy, Marketing, Branding, Communications, Program Management and Creative Services. During her tenure at Sun Life, aided brand awareness has grown from 2% to 18% among consumers, with corresponding sales effectiveness growth among targeted customers.
Ms. Brown is an accomplished builder of new and growing businesses and brands. She previously held the position of Chief Marketing and Brand Officer of Lincoln Financial Group. She joined the company in 1991 to establish its first investment management profit center, providing services to institutional clients. She then established the company's first branded family of retail and institutional mutual funds, which she later merged with the acquired Delaware family of funds. She led the turn around of the firm's retail broker/dealer, integrated acquisitions of asset management, distribution and media companies. Her leadership roles included Chair, Lincoln Advisor Funds; President, Lincoln National Equity Sales; and Vice President, Investor Relations, Corporate and Public Affairs.
Prior to joining Lincoln Financial Group, Ms. Brown held marketing, sales, and sales management roles at The Equitable Life Assurance Society (AXA) and Paine Webber.
Ms. Brown began her career in electronic news as a reporter and producer for KQED-TV, the PBS affiliate in San Francisco, and Business Commentator for WMAQ-TV in Chicago.
Passionate about enabling at risk youth around the world to exceed expectations, Ms. Brown's team conceived a national education program entitled "Sun Life Rising Stars". Her participation on Boards of Directors includes the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Eagles Youth Partnership and Project Mercy, her family's nonprofit, which develops and manages schools, hospitals and other state-of-the-art self-help programs in Africa. She is a past member of the Executive Committee of the Board of WHYY. She has served on the National Finance Committee for President Barack Obama. Ms. Brown's recent awards include a Silver Effie Award and Gold FCS Corporate Image Award, both for Sun Life's current advertising and public relations campaigns. She was also named one of Advertising Age's "Forty Women To Watch In Marketing" and Black Enterprise magazine's "Top Executives in Marketing and Advertising".
Ms. Brown and her family live in Philadelphia.
