We encourage you to apply
The Sun Life Rising Star Awards program provides financial resources to students and nonprofit organizations in large urban school districts that are committed to encouraging under-served youth to stay in school and promoting healthy lifestyles as a means to achieve lifelong financial wellness.
In order to apply for a Sun Life Rising Star Award, you must be designated as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit and tax-exempt organization as defined by the Internal Revenue Service, and you must meet eligibility requirements.
It is important to us to have a full picture of the great work you do, so we ask for details beyond those requested by your typical grant application. In addition to basic information about your organization and an outline of the project for which you’re seeking funding, you will be asked to submit:
- measurable results and successes,
- details of partnership(s) with secondary or post-secondary educational institutions and information with regards to proactive wellness programs/education provided to students,
- a creative submission, further illustrating your mission or successes, and
- other additional information.
Also as part of the grant application process, each nonprofit will nominate a student who participates in its program and has demonstrated a commitment to his/her education in the community. Each student will be required to submit a short essay answering one of the essay questions we have provided.
The application process for the 2013 Sun Life Rising Star Awards is now closed.
