Across Canada, the U.S., Hong Kong, India, China, Indonesia and the Philippines, Sun Life employees and advisors are making their charitable mark. They make a difference by volunteering their time, talent and energy in many communities.
Teams for Health
In keeping with our commitment to health and wellness, Sun Life’s Teams for Health program was created to encourage and support employees and advisors who participate in walks, runs, rides or sports activities to raise money for health-related registered charities in Canada. In 2013, 1,100 employees and advisors participated in Teams for Health.
This year, employees from our MFS Investment Management (MFS) business, consisting of a team of over 70 cyclists, joined forces to raise over $450,000 for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This contribution will fund the research and doctors committed to finding a cure for cancer. MFS has been involved with the ride for 15 years and have raised almost $8 million for cancer research.
Sun Life Shining Action
In our Hong Kong office, our employees and advisors along with their families joined forces to create Sun Life Shining Action, a volunteer group dedicated to supporting local initiatives in their community. In 2013, the group held a food drive to help support the Fresh Fish Traders’ School, which helps new immigrant families get settled and start a new life in Hong Kong. As a result of the commitment by Sun Life employees and advisors, the school received 20 large cartons full of food and supplies plus over $500 in food coupons.
It’s about lending a hand, sharing values and making better communities.
