Sun Life named to Dow Jones Sustainability Index North America
Sun Life Financial has again been selected as a member of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) North America, designed to track the stock market performance of the leading sustainability companies in North America. The Index is composed of the top 20%, in terms of sustainability, of the 600 largest companies from Canada and the United States. The annual review of the DJSI North America is based on a thorough analysis of corporate economic, environmental and social performance.

Sun Life wins trusted brand award in Philippines
The 2009 Reader's Digest Trusted Brands consumer survey named Sun Life an insurance company Gold Award winner. Consumers in the Philippines rated the brand for 6 core qualities – trustworthiness and credibility, quality, value, understanding of consumers' needs, innovation and social responsibility. Sun Life Financial Asia receives IDC Enterprise Innovation Award for eServices
Sun Life Financial Asia has received a 2009 Enterprise Innovation Award from IDC, the leading provider of data-driven research and analysis in the Asia/Pacific region. The IDC awards honour excellence and achievement in information technology. Sun Life's eServices won for our use of Cloud Computing, which demonstrated vision, boldness and excellence in execution. The eServices program provides innovative online tools for our customers, partners, agents and employees.
Recognition for Sun Life's record of financial strength
Independent rating agency A.M. Best has recognized Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada as a life and health insurer with strong financial strength ratings for over 50 years. Since 1946, our Best's rating has been A or higher, reflecting Sun Life's ability to meet our financial obligations to our policyholders through the generations.
Hong Kong advisor program wins Award for Excellence in Training
Sun Life's Hong Kong operations received a Citation for Continuous Professional Development in the Award for Excellence in Training 2009 by The Hong Kong Management Association. Sun Life was recognized for our commitment to advisor development through our Executive Financial Planning training program. The program enhances professional knowledge and keeps advisors updated with the latest market trends.

Sun Life named one of Canada's best corporate citizens
Corporate Knights magazine has included Sun Life in their list of the Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada.
This annual list of Canada’s most socially responsible companies is based on metrics such as the health of pension funds, executive pay, board diversity and tax dollar generation. Financial companies are also judged on renewable energy investments.

Sun Life named one of Canada's most socially responsible companies
Sun Life has been named one of Jantzi-Macleans 50 Most Socially Responsible Companies in Canada.
Companies are selected based on their performance across a wide range of environmental, social and governance indicators tracked by Jantzi Research. The companies chosen must demonstrate strong performance in areas such as environmental management, impact on local communities, treatment of employees and their record on human rights issues.

Sun Life receives top honours at LOMA Canada Annual Conference
Sun Life’s Excellence in Action training program was awarded the André Mailhot award for the best existing or new practices in learning and development in the life, health and financial services business in Canada. The 3-session program helps employees develop the skills to provide personalized service in an environment where it is important to balance speed and quality.

Group disability products in U.S. win highest satisfaction scores from customers
In a recent independent survey measuring customer satisfaction with their group disability plans, the U.S. Employee Benefits Group of Sun Life received the most positive ratings for Overall Value of the Product Considering Price. A full 82% of respondents were "extremely satisfied" or "very satisfied" with overall product value of our disability products. Sun Life’s score exceed industry averages.

Sun Life’s Philippines operations win global communication award from IABC
Sun Life was awarded the 2009 Gold Quill Award for excellence in communication, presented by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Sun Life captured an Award of Excellence in the Electronic and Digital Communications Management category for its Financial Explorer’s Quiz (FEQ) under the Amazing-I campaign.

Sun Life’s Hong Kong operations receive Lipper Fund Awards
For the third consecutive year, the Rainbow 65 - Sun Life Fixed Income Fund A has received the Best Hong Kong Dollar Bond Fund (3 years) in the Lipper Fund Awards Hong Kong pension fund category.

Birla Sun Life provides micro insurance in project to promote sustainable living
Birla Sun Life Insurance has been selected to join a prestigious international development project promoting a sustainable livelihood program in India.
Lead partner GY Associates Ltd. has a contract with India’s Centre for Promoting Sustainable Livelihood (CPSL), a non-governmental organization that forms self help groups, and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research to provide technical support to the project. The CPSL has named Birla Sun Life as a coalition partner to provide micro insurance to the self help group members. Birla Sun Life will provide insurance solutions to more than 100,000 people in the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

Birla Sun Life Asset Management named Star Fund House of the year
The investment manager of the Birla Sun Life Mutual Fund, one of the India's leading mutual funds houses, was awarded Star Fund House of the Year by ICRA Mutual Fund Awards 2009 in the debt category. In addition, the Birla Sun Life dynamic bond fund received a 7-star rating, while 7 other funds received 5-star ratings.
Sun Life’s Philippines operations win Anvil Award of Merit for advocacy in financial literacy
Sun Life received the Anvil for implementing the Financial Explorer’s Quiz and launching a successful marketing program to help Filipinos get a better look at their finances and create a financial plan. The Anvil Awards competition, conducted annually by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines, recognizes outstanding public relations programs and tools.
