Employee giving

Among our employees, we have many exceptional people. Men and women who make a difference by volunteering their time and talents to make life a little brighter in the communities where they live and work.

Across Canada, in Massachusetts, U.S., and in Hong Kong, India, China, Indonesia and the Philippines, Sun Life employees are making their charitable mark. It might be walking, running, or working behind the scenes to support their local charities.

A few of the many examples include the efforts of Sun Life Shining Action, an employee-advisor volunteer group in Hong Kong who organized several events to help brighten the lives of orphans and children in need. Or the 594 Canadian employees and members of their families who raised $179,000 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation through Run for the Cure. And the volunteers in our U.S. operations who supported more than 1,100 competing athletes in the Special Olympics of Massachusetts 2008 Summer Games, held at Harvard University.

It’s about lending a hand, sharing values and making better communities. All around the world, our people are doing good works.

In Canada, Sun Life’s employee and advisor philanthropy program, consists of three components: our United Way campaign, the matching gifts program and the volunteer program, including our Volunteer of the Year awards which recognize outstanding dedication by employees, advisors and their families.
